Woodforest comes in at No. 43 on two lists of the nation’s 50 top-selling master-planned communities. Builders sold 337 homes in the South Montgomery County development last year.

Following a robust 2017 that saw the introduction of new neighborhoods, amenities and builders, Woodforest is once again ranked among top master-planned communities in both the nation and in Houston.

The South Montgomery County community is ranked as No. 43 on two lists of the nation’s top-selling master-planned communities published by real estate research firms John Burns Real Estate Consulting and Robert Charles Lesser & Co. Builders reported 337 home sales in Woodforest during 2017.

It is the sixth consecutive year Woodforest has ranked among the nation’s 50 best-selling communities.

“It was a strong housing market throughout the nation last year, and we are honored to hold our place within this bustling industry,” said Virgil Yoakum, general manager of the 3,000-acre community. “One positive trend the researchers talked about is segmentation — having available homes in starting price points to multi-million dollar custom designs, which is something we have here in Woodforest.”

Woodforest also was ranked No. 6 on a list published recently by the Houston Business Journal.

The tally is based on homes started by builders between Oct. 1, 2016, and Sept. 30, 2017. Woodforest reported 355 home starts during this 12-month timeframe.

“It was a busy year for Woodforest,” Yoakum said. “We introduced several new neighborhoods and builders expanded the number and types of floor plans available in Woodforest. And with the introduction of new amenities and neighborhood conveniences, it’s no wonder that we ranked so high, despite Houston’s fiercely competitive residential market.”

Woodforest was one of five projects by Johnson Development Corp. that were included among the nation’s top-selling communities and the largest developments in Houston.

Homebuyers can find home designs by 20 builders in Woodforest, including six custom homebuilders. Prices range from the $200,000s to the millions. Woodforest is located in South Montgomery County, about seven miles west of Interstate 45 and five miles north of The Woodlands. Residents enjoy pools, parks, miles of trails, a dog park, tennis and basketball courts, and events planned by an on-site lifestyle director.
