From age 2 1⁄2 through college prep high school, School of the Woods offers a total continuum of interactive Montessori education in a unique learning environment, through curriculum personalized by Montessori-credentialed teachers according to each student’s needs, interests and abilities.

Now in its sixth decade (founded in 1962), School of the Woods is Houston’s oldest continuously operating Montessori school and is non-profit, independent and non-sectarian. It is a member school of the American Montessori Society and accredited by COGNIA (formerly AdvancED).

Educational programs: Woods Lower School for Early Childhood-Kindergarten, Elementary (Grades 1-3), and Upper Elementary (Grades 4-6); Woods Middle School (Grades 7-8); and Woods High School (Grades 9-12). Auxiliary programs include Dance, Gymnastics, Before/After School Care, Tutorials, Instrumental Music, Sports, Summer School and Summer Perfor- mance Arts. All children are eligible for enrollment regardless of race, color, creed, or national or ethnic origin.
