Cy-Fair FCU Awards One-Year of Free Mortgage Payments to Lansing Brown, Special Education Teacher at Cypress Falls High School and 2016 Spotlight Teacher

Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union (Cy-Fair FCU) is excited to announce that Lansing Brown, a special education teacher at Cypress Falls High School, will receive a year’s worth of mortgage payments totaling $24,000 ($2,000 every month for 12 months). Brown was presented with the surprise award during last week’s Cy-Fair Educational Foundation’s “Salute to the Stars” gala.

Spring ISD Schools Use Fun Activities to Teach a Serious Message during National Red Ribbon Week

Spring ISD schools scheduled a series of colorful dress-up days and learning activities in conjunction with the National Red Ribbon Celebration, Oct. 23-31. The various theme days across the district, for which students were invited to dress up, included: “I Elect to Be Drug Free,” “We’re too Bright for Drugs,” “Team Up Against Drugs,” “Sock it to Drugs,” and “Give Drugs the Boot,” to name a few.

Stone Gate HOA donates nearly $11,000 to two Cy Fair ISD elementary schools

The Stone Gate Home Owners Association (HOA) showed its support for educators at two CFISD schools this month, providing donations totaling nearly $11,000 to Postma and Birkes elementary schools.

Robert Partin, vice president of the Stone Gate HOA, delivered a monetary donation of $5,000 to Postma on Oct. 6, then followed it with a technology donation valued at $5,730 to Birkes on Oct. 12.

Miramesa Plans Spell-Binding Tour Oct. 22

There will be tricks and treats for all when Miramesa ‘s model homes open their doors to ghosts and goblins during the Hocus Pocus Tour of Treats, Saturday, Oct. 22.

From noon to 3 p.m., each of the master-planned community’s 12 models will offer candy and activities while visitors examine the floorplans, options and amenities available to them. The tour is open to the public and costumes are encouraged.

Cy Fair ISD College Night expands to two nights in 22nd year

CFISD’s annual College Night will expand to two nights in its 22nd year, Oct. 11-12 at the Berry Center (8877 Barker Cypress Road).

The event, hosted by the guidance and counseling department, will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. each evening. The following high school campuses will attend on their respective nights:

·         Oct. 11 – Cy-Fair, Cypress Creek, Cypress Falls, Cypress Ranch, Jersey Village and Windfern high schools; and

·         Oct. 12 – Cypress Lakes, Cypress Ridge, Cypress Springs, Cypress Woods and Langham Creek high schools.
