Cy Fair ISD teams place at Destination Imagination Global Finals

Two CFISD Destination Imagination teams enjoyed repeated success as third-time winners on Saturday, May 28, when they demonstrated their creativity and problem-solving talents during the Global Finals tournament held at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

The culminating event for the 2015-2016 competition year, Global Finals featured 1,464 teams competing in the world’s largest celebration of creativity. More than 17,000 people representing 20-plus countries came together for the event. 

Sienna Community Fund Pledges 5-Year Donation to Heritage Rose Elementary

Sienna Plantation is joining with Heritage Rose Elementary to enhance school events and applaud teachers through a $50,000 donation to the school.

A donation of $10,000 will be made to the school over the next five years through the Sienna Plantation Community Association, Inc., (SPCAI) Community Enhancement Fund, which is dedicated to support community activities, education, technology and health and wellness.

LAKES OF BELLA TERRA SCHOOLS RECEIVE HIGH RATINGS

All schools surrounding Lakes of Bella Terra have surpassed state accountability ratings, according to the reports released by the Texas Education Agency. The Lamar CISD schools include Foster High School, Briscoe Junior High, Wertheimer Middle School and Hubenak Elementary.

Distinction designations were awarded to campuses based on achievement on performance indicators compared to a group of 40 campuses of similar type, size and student demographics.

Alvin Community College (ACC) will reach out to area veterans who are seeking an education and a place in the workforce during the Veterans’ Education and Benefits Fair on Tuesday, June 24.

          Studies are showing that a majority of veterans in the United States are faring well in college by completing their education. More than 50 percent of veterans who have signed up to use their educational benefits have graduated with a degree or workforce certification, a completion rate which is comparable to other students, according to the Student Veterans of America organization.
