Grace School In West Houston Celebrates Preschool Education


Grace School recently celebrated Week of the Young Child with five days of activities aimed at celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers and families.

Remember Preschool? Days filled with brightly colored blocks, fruit juice, cheese crackers and an afternoon nap.  In hindsight, there wasn’t a lot of “school” in many preschool programs.  It leaves many moms and dads wondering if preschool is worth it?

Book Fair and Family Read Night at The Branch School

The Branch School  Book Fair and Family Read Night is Thursday, April 20 at Barnes & Noble Town & Country. Come purchase your summer reading and see students perform. 5:30-7:00. The in-store Book Fair is from April 20-22. Dresses for a Difference 

High school senior Margaret Carpenter created Dresses for a Difference, a service project that has left an impact on nearly 100 underprivileged girls.

Inspired by two adopted Haitian children who had dresses made from pillowcases, Maggie saw how the simple garments brought the girls such joy, and she wanted to spread the love.

Houston Methodist West Hospital Offers Free Support to Cancer Patients

Houston Methodist Cancer Center at West offers a monthly support group to help women at any stage of diagnosis and treatment understand that cancer can also affect them emotionally and spiritually, not just physically.

“Our mission is to ensure, through information, empowerment and peer support, that no one faces cancer alone,” said Kim Collins, director at Houston Methodist Cancer Center at West.

Houston Methodist West Hospital’s spine surgeon collaborates with top Chinese surgeons on new treatment concepts

A collaboration of China’s top orthopedic surgeons and Dr. B. Christoph Meyer, a surgeon with Houston Methodist Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, has led to an international partnership allowing our countries to explore similarities and differences in treatment approaches for patients with conditions of the spine.

Grace School Named Finalist in STEM Contest

Grace School STEM Teacher Betsy Crafton is a finalist in the KHOU 11 Inspiring Curiosity Contest, presented by Space Center Houston. This contest highlights the creative ways educators incorporate STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) to inspire our next generation of innovators.  Of all of the participating schools, we are one of four finalists selected for the chance to win $5,000 to further STEM education in the classroom.
