The San Antonio Board of Realtors (SABOR) has named Sitterle Homes its 2013 Builder of the Year. The award recognizes Sitterle Homes’ work with the real estate brokerage community. Sitterle was also SABOR’s Builder of the Year in 2011.
    “While Sitterle Homes is new in Houston, we’ve been building in San Antonio since 1964. The company will celebrate its 50th anniversary in a few months, in Texas that’s a huge milestone for a privately-owned homebuilder,” said Steve Von Hofe, Houston division president and partner.

Houston’s housing market closed out 2013 — its best year on record — with its 31st consecutive month of positive home sales and its lowest inventory level of all time.

However, home sales are expected to slow in 2014, the Houston Association of Realtors reported Tuesday.

After slowing slightly in November, home sales rebounded a bit in December with 5,813 single-family homes sold, up 14.3 percent from December 2012.

The ULI ranked Houston the No. 2 market to watch in its “Emerging Trends in Real Estate 2014” report. That’s up from No. 5 in 2013.

ULI’s reasoning is not that surprising: “Houston’s booming energy economy has fueled an active real estate market over the past few years, and survey respondents expect that to continue in the coming year.”

New luxury apartment tower planned near River Oaks - Houston Business Journal

Novare Group, an Atlanta-based apartment developer, is reportedly planning another luxury SkyHouse apartment tower in Houston.

Swamplot reports that Novare has a new Houston project dubbed the River Oaks SkyHouse. Although the exact location hasn’t been confirmed, Swamplot said the reported address for the project is at 2013 Westcreek Lane, which is located near San Felipe St. and the 610 West Loop South.

Houston dominated the nation in the number of top-selling master-planned communities in the nation for 2013, according to research compiled by a national real estate consulting firm, with eight west Houston communities making the list.

John Burns Real Estate Consulting, the firm that compiled the report, noted that Houston consumers valued master-planned communities due to the lack of zoning outside of them.

Houston luxury home sales soared in 2013 by Houston Business Journal

Houston's luxury housing market is just as popular as other segments of the housing market. Luxury home sales increased almost 50 percent from the time period between January and October 2013, according to research released by the Texas Association of Realtors.

Luxury homes are considered those priced $1 million and up. Houston experienced the second highest increase among Texas’ four major metro areas, according to the report.

Livable Center Study Grant Awarded to Northwest Houston

Houston, Spring, Klein, Cypress - The Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Ponderosa Forest Utility District and the Cypress Creek Parkway Property Owner’s Association are pleased to announce that they have been awarded a $100,000 Livable Center Study Grant for implementation in 2014 by the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC).  H-GAC is the regional planning authority for the thirteen-county Houston-Galveston region serving over 6 million people. Livable Centers are one strategy to address population growth and the ensuing transportation challenges.
