Houston Methodist West Hospital is celebrating National Doctors’ Day today. The hospital wishes to thank and honor all the physicians who work tirelessly for our patients every day.
“Our doctors are invaluable members of not only the hospital, but also our community,” said Wayne Voss, chief executive officer of Houston Methodist West. “We’re so lucky to have an amazing, compassionate team of physicians that’s leading medicine in their respective fields and in the community.”
Houston Methodist Cancer Center at West offers a monthly support group to help women at any stage of diagnosis and treatment understand that cancer can also affect them emotionally and spiritually, not just physically.
“Our mission is to ensure, through information, empowerment and peer support, that no one faces cancer alone,” said Kim Collins, director at Houston Methodist Cancer Center at West.

A collaboration of China’s top orthopedic surgeons and Dr. B. Christoph Meyer, a surgeon with Houston Methodist Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, has led to an international partnership allowing our countries to explore similarities and differences in treatment approaches for patients with conditions of the spine.
Houston Methodist Emergency Care Center at Cinco Ranch hosted 10 girl scouts from Brownie Troop 152022, nine parent chaperones and six of the troop members’ siblings on Tuesday, Oct. 11.
The scouts had the opportunity to tour the facility and receive hands-on lessons regarding orthopedic splinting, basic first aid, vital signs, various pediatric treatments and other emergency services. The emergency care center staff even performed a demonstration of an X-ray and CT scan.
If you travel on I-10 and Barker Cypress through the Energy Corridor, you may notice that flamingos have landed at Houston Methodist West Hospital. In honor of breast cancer awareness month, flamingos will cover the green areas of the hospital grounds and pink lights will shine at night during the month of October.
Two Houston Methodist hospitals received the highest honors today from Vizient (formerly UHC), an alliance of the nation’s leading academic medical centers.
Both Houston Methodist Hospital and Houston Methodist West Hospital were honored with the 2016 Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Award given to hospitals and academic medical centers that have demonstrated superior performance as measured by Vizient’s Quality and Accountability Study, conducted annually since 2005.

Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital is ranked No. 9 in the Houston area and No. 23 in Texas in the magazine’s 2016 list.
Houston Methodist Breast Care Center at West received a donation of more than 200 handmade heart-shaped “comfort pillows” from the Cinco Ranch High School cheerleaders.
These comfort pillows are designed to provide pain relief after a woman has undergone a breast biopsy, lumpectomy, mastectomy and breast reconstruction due to cancer.
