Lone Star College and University of Houston-Downtown agreed to extend and expand its program to program agreements, making it easier for students to transfer between the two institutions.

“We have no better partnership than the one with University of Houston-Downtown,” said Stephen C. Head, Ph.D., LSC chancellor. “Education is the future for our country. These relationships make us all stronger.”

Lone Star College students receive scholarships to pursue training for petrochemical careers @lonestarcollege

The Community College Petrochemical Initiative (CCPI) in conjunction with ExxonMobil awarded three Lone Star College-North Harris students scholarships to continue their education.

“We are so grateful for the support ExxonMobil gives to the Community College Petrochemical Initiative,” said Dr. Gerald Napoles, LSC-North Harris president. “These scholarships will help Lone Star College students continue their education and be prepared to join this growing industry.”

LSC-CyFair Info Sessions Set for Parents to Help Students Succeed

How can parents help their students succeed at Lone Star College-CyFair? Attend a summer Parent Information Session.

Gain first-hand knowledge about LSC-CyFair facilities, programs and resources with attendance at one of multiple summer information sessions. In addition to a campus tour, parents will be provided pertinent information on strategies to support their student in college.

Ready, Set, Enroll for Fall Classes at LSC-CyFair in June/July

Incoming students should take advantage of multiple opportunities to enroll at Lone Star College-CyFair through a simplified college admissions process.

Attend one of several Enrollment Information Sessions to receive hands-on assistance with enrollment steps and financial aid. In addition, students will be able to complete their Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination Shot for $20.

Sessions are set from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. June 27 and July 27 in the Center for Academic and Student Affairs, room 107, at the Barker Cypress campus, 9191 Barker Cypress.

Lone Star College celebrates student success at commencement ceremonies

 A record number 7,032 Lone Star College students were eligible to take part in commencement ceremonies to receive their associate degrees or certificates this year representing a 9 percent increase from 2014-15.

The ceremonies for six Lone Star Colleges took place May 13 and 14.

“This time of the year is always extra special,” said Dr. Stephen C. Head, LSC chancellor. “This is when our students get to enjoy the results of their hard work and efforts. They should all be very proud of their accomplishments.”

 

LSC-CyFair Dance Department “Break Free” Performance Set April 22

Bring the family to the “Break Free: A Dance Performance” on stage April 22 at Lone Star College-CyFair.

Come enjoy jazz, Latin and modern dance works that Professors Irene Ko, Sherry Harper and guest artists have choreographed to showcase the talents of LSC-CyFair’s Modern Dance students and members of the Diverse Dance Club.

The 7:30 p.m. performance will be held in the Main Stage Theatre, which is located in the Center for the Arts building on the Barker Cypress campus at 9191 Barker Cypress.

LSC-CyFair Instrumental Music Scholarship Auditions Set April 23

Lone Star College-CyFair’s Music Department will host instrumental music scholarship audition opportunities this April and June.

Ensembles available to students for fall registration include Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Band, String Ensemble and Chamber Ensemble.

Scholarship auditions will be held April 23 and again June 25 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. in the Recital Hall (ART 102) located in the Center for the Arts building at 9191 Barker Cypress.

Get Details to Become a Classroom Certified Teacher at LSC-CyFair/UofH Information Sessions Set March 29

For those interested in becoming a Texas classroom certified teacher, Lone Star College-CyFair and the University of Houston-Downtown will co-host an information session March 29.

LSC-CyFair and UofH-Downtown have teamed up to offer a seamless transition from the college’s Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) degree to the university’s bachelor’s degree.
