GHBA kicks off Benefit Homes Project in Elyson with Chesmar Homes

Chesmar Homes broke ground on Jan. 26 at 10 a.m. to launch construction of its 2017 Greater Houston Builders Association Benefit Homes Project home in the new community of Elyson.

This a 37-year-old fundraiser of the GHBA that benefits two local charities, HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home (OFH).


Coventry Homes received two awards in the recent Houston’s Best PRISM Awards hosted by the Greater Houston Builders Association.

 The Houston-based builder won Volume Builder Townhome Product Design for its Versailles floor plan offered in Somerset Green. Coventry’s Design 8264 in Avalon at Spring Green took home the award for Volume Builder “Specialty Home” Front Elevation up to $750k.

Trendmaker Homes and Meridiana Break Ground for GHBA Fundraiser

Dark skies and torrential rain in the forecast did not stop numerous GHBA members including vendors and trades, from gathering at the Welcome Center at Meridiana for the official groundbreaking of the Trendmaker/Meridiana Master Planned Community Benefit Homes Project, a Greater Houston Builders Association fundraiser.

Economist Predicts Houston Housing's Best Years on the Horizon

The Houston housing market is doing just fine and is poised to do even better. Despite the oil slump, Houston's housing market faces its best years yet. Mark Dotzour, former chief economist for Texas A&M University's Real Estate Center, shared this message to hundreds of developers, homebuilders and contractors gathered for the GHBA Mid-Year Forecast last week. 

SMC Check presentation to HomeAid

The SMC check presentation was made to HomeAid Houston last week.  The check to Operation Finally Home will be made at the Montgomery County Luncheon next week.  Any SMC members are welcome to attend.

Ashton Woods Wins GHBA Houston’s Best PRISM Grand Award for 2nd Year

Ashton Woods has won the coveted top builder award — the Grand Award — for a second consecutive year in the Houston’s Best PRISM Awards, presented recently by the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA).

Ashton Woods also was a two-time consecutive recipient of the Grand Award — Volume Builder of the Year winner of the prestigious Star Awards hosted earlier this year by the Texas Association of Builders.

Sitterle Homes Wins Best Specialty Room in Houston’s Best Awards

Sitterle Homes won the prize for Best Specialty Room — Volume Builder in the prestigious Houston’s Best PRISM Awards presented by the Greater Houston Builders Association.

The builder won for a wine room in its model home in Imperial at Sugar Land. The room features brick-clad walls, a barrel-vaulted ceiling and extensive wine storage. Comfortable seating and a granite-topped counter create an intimate space for wine tastings.

Sitterle Homes also was a finalist for Garden Home/Patio Home of the Year — Volume Builder for its model home in Imperial.


Record Attendance at Annual Sales and Marketing Council’s Million Dollar Circle Awards

HOUSTON – February 23, 2015 – Over 260 Houston-area new home sales professionals were recognized at the Greater Houston Builder’s Association (GHBA) Sales and Marketing Council’s (SMC) Annual Million Dollar Circle Awards held this year on February 17, 2015.

Perry Homes and Bridgeland Break Ground for GHBA Benefit Home

Numerous GHBA members including vendors and trades, gathered at the homesite to help mark the official groundbreaking of the 2015 GHBA Benefit Home. Perry Homes led the ceremony on a lot in the Beech Creek section of Hidden Creek. Perry Homes is donating construction management and the Howard Hughes Corporation donated the homesite. Nineteen gold shovels launched the first stage of construction of Perry's 2-story 3199W E-70 plan.
