Astros win first World Series Championship in franchise history

With last nights Game 7 win over the LA Dodgers, the Houston Astros are World Series Champions for the first time in franchise history. Prior to this season, the Astros had gone 55 years without a World Series Championship  and had appeared in only one other World Series (2005). The Astros defeated the LA Dodgers by a score of 5-1 tonight at Dodger Stadium.

ASTROS TO HOST HOUSTON WINTER INVITATIONAL AT MINUTE MAID PARK

Three-day, six-team tournament begins play on Friday, Feb. 5

The fourth annual Houston Winter Invitational will commence baseball season at Minute Maid Park with the six-team tournament held at the stadium fromFeb. 5-7. The tournament will feature six NCAA Division II universities, squaring off in nine games across the three days.

Astros Caravan Visits St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School

Astros Caravan members shook the roof of St. Anthony of Padua gymnasium Thursday, January 21st.  Three All Star Astros, Dallas Keuchel, Jose’ Altuve, and Ken Giles, along with Astros Mascot Orbit and a host of media and crew, delivered a strong and clear message to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School students.  

CORREA, KEUCHEL WIN MLBPA PLAYERS CHOICE AWARDS

The Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) announced the winners of their highest honorstonight, naming shortstop Carlos Correa the American League Most Outstanding Rookie, left-handed pitcher Dallas Keuchel the AL Most Outstanding Pitcher and second baseman Jose Altuve the Majestic “Always Game “award winner.

ASTROS ACQUIRE GOMEZ, FIERS FROM BREWERS

Houston sends four minor leaguers to Milwaukee

The Houston Astros have acquired outfielder Carlos Gomez, right-handed pitcher Mike Fiers and slot number 76 in the 2015-16 international pool from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for four minor leaguers: left-handed pitcher Josh Hader, right-handed pitcher Adrian Houser and outfieldersBrett Phillips and Domingo Santana. The announcement was made by Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow.

Luhnow will be available to the media tonight in the Astros press box at 7:15 p.m.
