Chesmar Homes is proud to participate with the Helping A Hero Organization to provide a beautiful new home for Cpl Raul Olivares and his family in the community of Towne Lake.  A ground breaking ceremony was held on October 21 for the 2,416 sq. ft. Magnolia home plan, with construction scheduled to begin in November.  This is the sixth time Chesmar has partnered with the Helping A Hero Organization to provide a home for a wounded war veteran.

Vendors selling an array of specialty items will be staged in a 7,354-square-foot, million-dollar home by Westport at 38 Ivy Bend. On sale will be fall and holiday décor, custom jewelry, pet items, gourmet foods, pottery, children’s gifts, fragrant lotions and more.

University of Houston President Renu Khator to Discuss Higher Education Presented by the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce

SUGAR LAND – The Education and Governmental Relations Divisions of the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce will host University of Houston President Renu Khator on Dec. 16, 2013. She will discuss how the current legislation has affected higher education in the state of Texas. 

The luncheon will be held at the Sugar Land Marriott, 16090 City Walk, Sugar Land from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Sugar Land, TX – A quiet Thursday night was awakened with activities as people dressed in all shades of purple, attended the long awaited event Voices against Violence. The Fort Bend County Women’s Center (FBCWC) and Asians Against Domestic Abuse (AADA) held a reception on a beautiful October 17th Fall night to bring awareness against domestic violence during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital plans major expansion

SUGAR LAND—(Oct. 22, 2013) — Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital is embarking on a major expansion that will add a new 6 story patient tower and include its first development in Missouri City.

Five major projects, with a total cost of more than $131 million, are planned for groundbreaking between now and summer 2014 that will expand the hospital’s physical footprint, significantly enhance its ability to serve patients across Fort Bend and surrounding counties and add a number of new jobs.

ROSENBERG, TEXAS (October 22, 2013):  BOO-berg, the City of Rosenberg's annual Halloween carnival, will be held Saturday, October 26, 2013, at Seabourne Creek Nature Park, 3831 Highway 36 South, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Sugar Land, TX – Asians Against Domestic Abuse (AADA) has partnered with the Fort Bend County Women’s Center (FBCWC) to bring awareness against domestic violence during October Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  AADA and FBCWC are hosting a “Voices Against Violence Reception” on Thursday, October 17 at the Sugar Land Town Square from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

Fort Bend County wins national recognition for gains in employment

FORT BEND COUNTY, TEXAS (October 3, 2013) – Fort Bend County achieved the largest percentage increase in employment in the nation from March 2012 to March 2013, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). BLS, the independent statistical arm of the U.S. Department of Labor, released results showing Fort Bend tops the list of the 334 largest U.S. counties, with an increase in employment of more than 7 percent, well above the national average of 1.6 percent.
