Lone Star College, University of Houston-Downtown Team Up for Student Success



Lone Star College and University of Houston-Downtown agreed to extend and expand its program to program agreements, making it easier for students to transfer between the two institutions.

“We have no better partnership than the one with University of Houston-Downtown,” said Stephen C. Head, Ph.D., LSC chancellor. “Education is the future for our country. These relationships make us all stronger.”

Affordable Colleges Online a leading resource for online learning and college affordability information, has released its ranking for the 2016-2017 Best Online Colleges in Texas.

According to a recent study by the National Center for Education Statistics, Texas offers the second most online degree programs of any state in the nation.

Save the Date for the TEXAS Grant Symposium: UHD - University of Houston Downtown

​​​​Join the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) and Senator Rodney Ellis for a symposium on, "The Evolution of the TEXAS Grant Program," Monday, May 23, in the UHD Welcome Center Travis Room, from 2 to 6 p.m.

The symposium celebrates the impact of the TEXAS (Towards EXcellence, Access and Success) Grant Program. Established by the Texas Legislature in 1999, the TEXAS Grant Program provides financial assistance to academically prepared, underserved high school graduates interested in pursuing higher education. 

Medal of Honor Recipient Visits UHD

University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) Office of Veterans Services hosted Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, Staff Sgt. Ty Carter, on April 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Staff Sgt. Carter is the fifth living soldier to receive the Medal of Honor based on service in Iraq or Afghanistan, and the 12th recipient of the Medal of Honor for actions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

University of Houston - Downtown, Real-World Project Makes Students Work-Ready

University of Houston - Downtown (UHD) is one of a select group of schools nationwide to compete in American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) Collegiate Energy Challenge. This competition gives students a unique, real-world opportunity to apply their knowledge and develop a complete integrated marketing plan. The project raises awareness of the fuel and petrochemical industries and related career opportunities among AFPM's target audience, millennials and the local community, from March through April 2016.

UHD Hosts 200 High School Students for Buffalo Bayou Service Project

Harmony Public Schools and Taylor High School-Alief join STEM service-learning event as part of Global Youth Service Day

HOUSTON (April 22, 2015) – Approximately 200 high school students from Harmony Public Schools (HPS) and Taylor High School-Alief (THS) joined undergraduates at the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) recently for a day of service and hands-on learning for the Buffalo Bayou Service Project.

The Houston Endowment Awards UHD $1 Million Toward New Student Services Center

HOUSTON (March 23, 2015) – Students at the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) soon will have a one-stop, convenient access point to key student services thanks in part to a recent $1 million grant from The Houston Endowment to support the construction of a new Student Services Center.
