Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union (Cy-Fair FCU) is excited to announce that Lansing Brown, a special education teacher at Cypress Falls High School, will receive a year’s worth of mortgage payments totaling $24,000 ($2,000 every month for 12 months). Brown was presented with the surprise award during last week’s Cy-Fair Educational Foundation’s “Salute to the Stars” gala.

The Stone Gate Home Owners Association (HOA) showed its support for educators at two CFISD schools this month, providing donations totaling nearly $11,000 to Postma and Birkes elementary schools.
Robert Partin, vice president of the Stone Gate HOA, delivered a monetary donation of $5,000 to Postma on Oct. 6, then followed it with a technology donation valued at $5,730 to Birkes on Oct. 12.
CFISD’s annual College Night will expand to two nights in its 22nd year, Oct. 11-12 at the Berry Center (8877 Barker Cypress Road).
The event, hosted by the guidance and counseling department, will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. each evening. The following high school campuses will attend on their respective nights:
· Oct. 11 – Cy-Fair, Cypress Creek, Cypress Falls, Cypress Ranch, Jersey Village and Windfern high schools; and
· Oct. 12 – Cypress Lakes, Cypress Ridge, Cypress Springs, Cypress Woods and Langham Creek high schools.
Nearly 3,000 CFISD elementary school students enhanced their reading skills over the summer by participating in one of nine Camp Summit sites.
Camp Summit, which ran from June 13-July 21, catered to kindergarten through second-grade students needing additional support in reading.
A total of 2,735 students attended the camps at Andre’, Emery, Holmsley, Horne, Millsap, Post, Walker, Willbern and Wilson elementary schools.
Students proudly took books home each night and brought them back the next day after reading to their families.
Cypress-Fairbanks ISD welcomed back students to its 88 campuses on Monday, Aug. 22 for the first day of school of 2016-2017.
More than 115,000 students are expected for the third-largest school district in Texas and 22nd-largest in the United States. The district opened its 11thcomprehensive high school, Cypress Park High School, to students on Monday.

The Education Resource Group (ERG), a data-driven company that provides accountability and performance management optimization for public schools, for the fourth consecutive year rated Cypress-Fairbanks ISD in the top two among the 200 largest districts in Texas for academic and financial performance in its 2015 Best Practice Awards.
The rating, released in the spring, follows two No. 1 productivity rankings in the 2012 and 2013 Best Practice Awards and a No. 2 ranking in 2014. Only Hearst-Euless Bedford ISD received a higher “District Productivity Index” rating for 2015.
