Ryland Opens New Woodforest Model Home

Spring ISD Career Destination Night is Oct. 17

Houston – Oct. 4, 2013 - The Spring Independent School District Career Destination Night will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 at Carl Wunsche Sr. High School. The annual event will showcase Spring ISD Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities. Students in kindergarten through 12th grade and their parents are invited to come and see class demonstrations, displays and activities presented by the CTE department.

The fair, which is open to community members and students who are seeking employment and career opportunities, will include representatives from area businesses, colleges and St. Luke’s Medical Center.

Cy-Christian Team for Haley's Miracle
A group of Cypress Christian School faculty, students, and families participated in the 2013 Be The Match Walk+Run in Sugarland in honor of CCS seventh grade student Haley Cannon. Haley is battling Hodgkin's Lymphoma and she received her miracle on July 9, 2013 in the form of a bone marrow transplant from a donor on the international registry. The journey to that day is an incredible and inspiring story, because God had some amazing plans for Haley and her family.

BAM! Sponsors ‘Fast Draw’ Contest At Mall to Enrich Talents of Junior High Artists by The John Cooper School

THE WOODLANDS – The 2nd Annual BAM! Fast Draw competition, held at The Woodlands Mall on September 28, drew 63 seventh and eighth grade contestants from Montgomery County for the 2013 contest.
Students were given drawing materials and 50 minutes to complete a still life as they worked against the clock while friends and family looked on. The Woodlands Waterway Arts Council sponsors the annual contest through its community enrichment program, BAM! Because Art Matters!

Riverstone to host community garage sale Oct. 26

HOUSTON (October 3, 2013) - Houston Community College is preparing to break ground to expand workforce and career technology opportunities in Alief with a new 17,220 square-foot workforce building on the existing HCC Alief Bissonnet campus.

In addition to offices and conference space, the Alief Career Center will include classrooms and shops for students interested in heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), electrical and plumbing careers.

Fort Bend County wins national recognition for gains in employment

FORT BEND COUNTY, TEXAS (October 3, 2013) – Fort Bend County achieved the largest percentage increase in employment in the nation from March 2012 to March 2013, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). BLS, the independent statistical arm of the U.S. Department of Labor, released results showing Fort Bend tops the list of the 334 largest U.S. counties, with an increase in employment of more than 7 percent, well above the national average of 1.6 percent.
