Land Tejas Expands Sterling Lakes, A Community Located in South Houston

Premier residential developer Land Tejas is expanding Sterling Lakes by adding a new estates neighborhood with properties up to half an acre.

The Estates of Sterling Lakes will comprise 79 oversized homesites ranging up to half an acre. The first phase features home designs priced from the $300s by builders Anglia Homes, CastleRock Communities and Terrata Homes.  The Estates of Sterling Lakes will have three new models.

Home Building: Texas Shows Dominance with Houston No. 2 and Dallas No. 1

The Lone Star State is the shining star in homebuilding so far in 2017. Houston ranks No. 2 in housing starts, slightly behind Dallas, which leads the nation.

Houston recorded 25,789 housing starts for the 12-month period ending in March 31, 2017, according to Metrostudy. In the same 12-month period Dallas had 30,017 starts.

Showing a little softness, Houston home builders recorded 6,567 home sale closings in the first quarter, a 3.8 percent decline from the first quarter of 2016, Metrostudy reported.

Brazoswood High School Band Members Receive Statewide Award

Thirty students of the Brazoswood Band were recently honored as Texas Music Scholars. Students were nominated by their director, Brian Casey. The award is given by the Texas Music Educators Association, which sponsors the Texas All-State Bands, Orchestras and Choirs. Students who have exhibited outstanding qualities in scholastic merit, musicianship, and citizenship in their school and community during the 2016-17 school year were recognized.
