HOUSTON (May 14, 2013) – Adison Lee, protégé of famed celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa and fixture in the Houston food scene, is bringing his passion for culinary creation to Memorial City. Lee introduces his new restaurant, Kuu, the contemporary Japanese concept which will open in fall 2013. Lee brings 20 years of intercontinental experience in Japanese cuisine to the venture, where he will serve as executive chef, and he's already been a notable presence in Houston's best-regarded sushi restaurants.
Kuu will be located in Gateway Memorial City, the development just west of Memorial City Mall, immediately adjacent to the landmark, 33-story Memorial Hermann Tower and The Westin Memorial City, Houston's finest Starwood resort. The prominent architecture of Gateway Memorial City, including the new grand entrance valet, will make the area a visible destination for Houstonians, and visitors will be able to sample exclusive luxury boutiques, entertainment venues, and the unique dining experience provided by Kuu.
"We are excited to welcome Adison and Kuu to Gateway Memorial City," said Loch Cook, director of retail leasing at MetroNational. "Adison is another rising culinary star bringing his incredible pedigree to Memorial City, and his concept is going to add a lot of excitement to the area. We anticipate that the Gateway will become an important hub for Houston's thriving food scene."
Diners with an appreciation for modern Japanese cuisine – from the Montrose area to Austin – will likely recognize Adison Lee, and his plans for Kuu are certain to excite his fan base. The restaurant promises a sophisticated dining experience, and a diverse menu with a full spectrum of creative and exotic items that include sushi as well as new spins on traditional fare. Guests will frequently be tempted to stray from the established menu, however, as Lee serves up daily and seasonal features such as seared golden tile with roast beets and a truffle reduction, or roasted duck breast over white asparagus with a cilantro yuzu ponzu dressing.
"Kuu is Japanese for 'the art of eating,' and the idea that there truly is art in this cuisine is the basis for this restaurant," said Lee. "I have many creations that I'm excited to introduce to Houston. Guests of Kuu will experience food that they just can't experience anywhere else."
For Gateway leasing information, contact Loch Cook at 713-984-1001.
