Woodforest Craft Fest Celebrates Artisan Brews Sept. 24

The Christine Allen Nature Park in Woodforest will take on the characteristics of a local brewbub in celebration of all things fermented and foamy at the Woodforest Craft Fest Saturday, Sept. 24.

The free festival taking place from 1-5 p.m., at the park, 5831 Woodforest Parkway South, will feature award-winning craft brews, pub grub, live country music by Josh Fuller and the Cody Bryan Band, Texas barbeque and a jumbotron television airing college football games.

“This is one of the most exciting events Woodforest has hosted,” said Shannon League, marketing director for Woodforest. “It will be like visiting your favorite pub — only outside in our beautiful park.”

On tap will be samples of lagers, ales and stouts from local breweries including 2015 Great American Beer Festival medalists Saint Arnold Brewing Company and Karbach Brewing Co. Saint Arnold took gold for its German-style wheat ale, Weedwacker. Karbach won a silver medal for its Karbachtoberfest.

Cyclers Brewery, located in historic Montgomery, will bring a selection of international-style beers. Houston brewery Spindletap will offer samples of both beer and food. Craft Grill also will have food samples.

The breweries will not be able to sell their beers — only offer tastes — but the Woodforest Golf Club will have beer and wine available for purchase. Food trucks such as the Sauced Pig and Freddie G’s will be on hand with a range of food options. Costco will have free snacks available for children.

In addition, vendors will offer numerous beer-related products. Haus of Growlers will be custom-designed selling growlers. NYM Boutique will showcase custom RTIC cups, while Cold Leather Products will display its handmade Koozies. The Montgomery Band Booster Club will be selling blankets, fans, and sunglasses.

Event-goers also will have an opportunity to examine a plethora of trucks courtesy of Gullo dealerships of Conroe. Texas Truck Works will display a rzr, custom-wrapped trucks and an 18 wheeler.

Sponsors for the event include Blake Wilcox Properties, Highland Homes, Bonterra at Woodforest, HB Hydro Ax, LLC, Lane Galloway with State Farm, Kiddie Academy, Perry Homes, Prodigy Insurance Group, Westin Homes, Donna L. Rodriguez, PLLC, Coventry Homes and CHI St. Luke’s Health. The event is open to the public.

Woodforest is located seven miles west of Interstate 45 between Conroe and The Woodlands. The 3,000-acre community employs a full-time lifestyle director to plan resident-only events, as well as sponsoring local charity events.
