Just months after its spring grand opening, the Texas 288 master-planned community of Meridiana reports half of its 412 phase one homesites as either sold or under construction as home buyers continue to flock to Houston’s first community dedicated to education for every stage of life.

Dan Naef, president of Meridiana developer Rise Communities, says much of the activity to date has come from those in nearby Pearland as well those working in the Texas Medical Center to the north of the community and major Brazoria County employers to the south.

“When families see the quality of our Amenity Village, they’re sold,” says Naef.  “We said from day one we would have the finest Amenity Village in the market and based on the responses of those who visit Meridiana, we met that mark.”

Meridiana’s resort-style Amenity Village features a family pool and custom cabanas, lap pool, children’s water playground, fitness center, cafe, fishing pier, glass-walled conservatory overlooking the lake and custom yacht for Soleil, Meridiana’s golden retriever canine ambassador.

Naef also credits the presence of the community’s on-site Meridiana Elementary School, its oversized homesites and immediate access to Texas 288 via the new Meridiana Parkway interchange as other strong selling points.  The community also will be home to the new Alvin Independent School District varsity competition stadium, opening fall 2018.

Meridiana’s unique emphasis on education is perhaps best symbolized by its 60-foot Meridian Tower which operates similar to a sun tower by casting a shadow that moves as the Earth rotates.  An in-ground sky map at the base of the tower indicates the sun’s motion and altitude over the entire year while concrete pathways emanate from the base of the tower to illustrate the cardinal directions.

Educational elements throughout the community include stone walls down Meridiana Parkway, across from the Amenity Village, which line up with the Meridian Tower to represent the winter and summer solstice lines. During the winter and summer solstice, the sun sets along these lines.

Developed by Rise Communities, Meridiana offers new homes from the $200s to the $500s including those in cul-de-sac and secluded gated sections.  The community is located just south of Pearland between the Texas Medical Center and several Brazoria County employers. METRO STAR Vanpool service is will also available from the community.
