Pearland ISD: Pre-PEAR workshops invite kids to explore robots, STEM fields

Are you an 11- to 14-year-old who is passionate about robotics and interested in science, technology, engineering and math fields?

Pearland Independent School District’s Pearadox Robotics Team students and industry professionals will host three individual prePEAR workshops this fall to teach the process to build a robot and show real-world career opportunities in STEM and robotics.

•    What: Pre-PEAR Workshop for ages 11-14
•    When: Saturday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Oct. 29, Nov. 19 or Dec. 10 (Note: Nov. 19 session is geared toward girls interested in STEM)
•    Where: Turner College and Career High School, 4717 Bailey Rd., Pearland, TX 77584
•    Cost: $75 if signed up three weeks in advance, $100 regular admission and $50 if child of Pearland ISD employee (lunch is provided)

In addition to exploring STEM careers and programming LEGO robots, participants will meet new people, learn hands-on skills and satisfy scouting robotics merit badge requirements.
