Learn more about Houston's Space Program and International Space Station

The Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center (JSC) Heartbeat of the U.S. Space Program is Anchored in Houston and the Clear Lake Area.

Houston/Clear Lake ~ It is frequently said that the first words spoken from the moon on July 20, 1969 were said by Neil Armstrong to mission control at JSC, “Houston, Tranquility Base here the eagle has landed." 

While opinions vary on the actual first words spoken from the moon, no one doubts the importance of the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center (JSC) to the space program, Houston and the Clear Lake Area.

NASA is currently developing the Orion crew vehicle, Space Launch System and Exploration Ground Systems that will one day send astronauts beyond low-Earth orbit. A major goal is to journey to Mars.
