Two Cy-Fair High School students won a first-place trophy at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference Awards of Excellence Program in Atlanta, Ga., on July 2.
Cy-Fair students Koustubh Nyshadham and Michael Peroutek won top honors in the Web Design competition after creating a website from scratch and presenting it to a panel of judges in advance of the competition. The students were then asked to explain how they came up with the idea and how they created it live on the World-Wide Web.
“I have never been so proud of such motivated young students,” said Marti Peddicord, Cy-Fair FBLA club adviser. “I know they will go forward and make a huge difference in business and the lives around them.”
The award was part of a comprehensive national competitive events program sponsored by FBLA-Phi Beta Lambda that recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas.
The FBLA National Leadership Conference, held June 29-July 2, allowed more than 9,380 students to enhance their business skills, expand their networks and participate in more than 65 business-related competitive events.
In addition to competitions, students immersed themselves in interactive workshops, visited an information-packed exhibit hall and heard from motivational speakers on a broad range of business topics.
