The Community Foundation of Brazoria County honored Susie Wilcox of Pearland, Doris Williams of Lake Jackson, and Josie LaChance (Young Philanthropist) from Lake Jackson, as the 2017 Philanthropists of the Year for their service and generosity to the community.
Barbara Franklin, the Executive Director of the Community Foundation, said “Celebrating individuals who act for the benefit of others is a welcome breath of fresh air in these days. Honoring the Philanthropist of the Year is an opportunity to be inspired by the extraordinary courage and compassion of ordinary people. One of our missions is to foster philanthropy of all kinds and honor our philanthropists to inspire people to reach out to others.”
Susie Wilcox, a Pearland resident and long-time banking professional and community volunteer, was chosen for her lifetime commitment to Pearland. A resident for over 60 years she helped organize the concept, vision, and creation of the Pearland Chamber of Commerce. The Pearland Chamber of Commerce honored Ms. Wilcox as the 2006 Citizen of the Year for her commitment to the community.
