The Alvin Community College Music Department will teach area students how to play the bass, guitar and drums with a rocker's flair during the Rock and Roll Camp on June 11-14.
The camp will give students an opportunity to learn about classic rock, including instrumental techniques, rehearsal methods and recording sessions. Campers will need to bring their own instruments.
ACC instructors ACC instructors John Calderon, Tim Salter and Shane Gormly will teach at the camp. All three are professional musicians.
"I'm excited about it," said David Griffith, Alvin Community College Music Director. "It's an opportunity for non-band music students."
Students must have some experience playing their instrument before signing up for the camp, he said. The camp will end with students playing a live performance on June 14.
The camp will cost $150 which includes a free T-shirt. Those who register before May 31 will receive a $25 discount. To register online, visit alvincollege.edu/music/rockcamp. For more information call 281-756-3588.
