Summer Children's Theatre Auditions, May 16-17
The Alvin Community College Drama Department will hold auditions May 16 and 17 for two Summer Children's Theatre productions. The Festival will include The Princess and the Pea and Alice in Wonderland. Auditions are open to the community and all types of roles are available.
The Princess and the Pea is a Hans Christian Anderson story about a young woman who must prove herself to be the one true princess of her kingdom. Her test involves having to feel for a pea through 20 mattresses, to test her level of sensitivity.
The second play of the Festival will be Lewis Carrol's Alice in Wonderland, the classic tale about a young woman who finds herself in a mysterious land after tumbling down a rabbit hole.
To try out for the plays, actors should prepare a one-minute monologue that best showcases their ability. Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Auditions will be held at the Alvin Community College Theatre.
The Princess and the Pea will run from June 18-21 at 10 a.m. There will be a 7:30 p.m. performance on June 21. Alice in Wonderland will run July 23-26 at 10 am. A 7:30 p.m. performance will be on July 26.
Tickets are $2 if bought in advance and $3 on the day of the play. For more information about the Summer Children's Theatre Festival, or to buy tickets, visit alvincollege.edu/drama/children.htm or call 281-756-3606.
