The Texas Repertory Theatre Co., NW Houston’s critically-acclaimed professional theatre, opens its spring season with another modern comic classic, Paul Rudnik’s I Hate Hamlet. Opening Thursday February 4th and running until February 21st, I Hate Hamlet is one of the most celebrated “backstage comedies” to emerge from the modern theatre, freshly re-invented by the talented artists at designers at “Houston’s Uptown Classic Theatre”.
Andrew Rally, a sit-com-canceled Los Angeles actor, returns to New York to play Shakespeare in the Park and rents John Barrymore’s old apartment, hoping to kindle some much-needed inspiration for his role as the Danish prince. When Barrymore’s ghost appears to coach Andrew in his performance as Hamlet, a chaotic and hilarious collection of mishaps ensue. A modern classic of a comedy, I Hate Hamlet is sure to please audiences of all ages. Featuring a cast of fresh faces in addition to Texas Repertory favorites, all under the direction of Texas Repertory Artistic Director Craig Miller, I Hate Hamlet is one of the most charming and endearing “backstage comedies” ever!
