In today’s economic climate how do you maintain your advantage in an ever increasingly competitive market? Selling homes that are ENERGY STAR qualified can help.
Consumers recognize the ENERGY STAR brand. In fact, in 2008 sixty-eight percent of households associated the ENERGY STAR label with “efficiency or energy savings,” compared with 55 percent of households in low-publicity areas. It can be confidently assumed that those percentages have only increased.
Last year, over 100 REALTORS® in Houston got their advantage by taking Be a Star with ENERGY STAR Mandatory Continuing Education (MCE) Classes sponsored by Pulte Homes in partnership with Champions School of Real Estate and ICF Resources, LLC.
This year more REALTORS will have the opportunity Be a Star with ENERGY STAR on Friday, March 19, 2010 at Champions, West Campus sponsored by the Pulte Group of brands in Houston, Pulte Homes and Centex. The objective of the course is to provide REALTORS with a better understanding of the interest and trends of green building and energy efficiency. As a result, REALTORS are able to identify energy-efficient homes and the tools to help them improve their business to help sell more homes.
Topics that will be covered in the March 19th Be a Star with ENERGY STAR MCE class will include:
- Features and benefits of ENERGY STAR and how to help your clients understand them
- ENERGY STAR qualified homes and how they relate to an increase in customer satisfaction and referrals
- How to be a local ENERGY STAR expert and how to translate that into your competitive advantage
In addition, a key component of the educational class is relating the coursework to a real home. After the class, REALTORS will have the opportunity to meet with Pulte Homes and Centex Construction Managers to discuss the application of the building sciences taught in the class and to make an appointment for an onsite field tour of a home under construction.
“Walking through a home better relates the course work they learned about green building and energy efficiency. Pulte Group brand homes in Houston that are ENERGY STAR® qualified consume at least 15 percent less energy than a standard new home, reduce gas emissions and can help save significantly on utility bills,” said Christy Stratton, director of marketing for Pulte Homes’ Houston division.“ Just having the knowledge about the features of ENERGY STAR is good - having first hand understanding of how ENERGY STAR qualified homes are built and how that benefits your buyer is much better.”
