Cinco Ranch models showcase latest design trends
Tuesday, 07 August 2012 13:47

From wine grottos to outdoor living areas, the 8 new model homes now open in West Houston's Cinco Ranch community feature many of the latest architectural design and interior decorating trends.

Priced from the $260,000s to $700,000s, these new models by David Weekley, Highland, Partners In Building, Perry, Ryland, Trendmaker and Village Builders will be part of the upcoming "Summer of Cinco" grand opening festivities.

This weekend, home shoppers can take advantage of pre-grand opening prices while they check out new design ideas. Highlights include:

Outdoor living areas. Covered patios, summer kitchens, courtyards, front porches and balconies are featured throughout these model homes. Nowhere is this trend more prevalent than in the Partners In Building model, where an open courtyard is surrounded by the home to create interior views while maintaining privacy. A covered outdoor dining room adjoins the courtyard.

Planning centers. On the floor plan for David Weekley's Burleigh model, this airy room next to the kitchen is officially labeled "Study 2," although these rooms are commonly called planning centers. By any name, it offers a wall-length built-in desk, with granite countertops and built-in cabinets matching the kitchen. Decorations show how this can be a go-to spot for scrapbooking, planning menus and budgets, and repotting plants.

Fireplaces. Homeowners can light a cozy fire inside or outside in these homes, which feature indoor fireplaces in family rooms, along with outdoor fireplaces on covered patios. Some models feature intricately carved cast fireplace mantels, while others are surrounded by rustic stone that covers the chimney and in some cases the entire wall.

Guest suites. Responding to requests from homebuyers, many builders have included downstairs guest suites in their two-story models. In Trendmaker's Plan F503 model, for example, the guest suite is tucked away for maximum privacy, and has a full bath and walk-in closet.

Islands. In many of these new models, the kitchen islands are more like continents. In Ryland's Forte model, the island approximates the shape of a half circle, and is topped in richly veined white and gray granite. More trends include open-concept pantries, wine grottos, built-in china hutches and blending two or more colors of granite and marble.

Light woods. While most of these new models feature medium and dark stained tones for flooring and cabinetry, Highland's model takes the opposite approach, with light-colored finishes to show homebuyers a different style.

3-car garages. Perry's Plan 3798 model and many other new models at Cinco Ranch offer 3-car garages. Many are tandem configurations, with two bays across and one in the back for extra parking or storage.

The upcoming "Summer of Cinco" celebration will also include a major new recreational amenity and three new Katy Independent School District schools opening in August.

Overall, Cinco Ranch offers new homes priced from the $150,000s to over $1 million, with a total of 36 model homes now open.

To visit, take I-10 West to Grand Parkway and drive south on Grand Parkway. Turn right (west) at Cinco Ranch Blvd. and follow the signs to the Simply Cinco information center in LaCenterra or to the Model Home Villages.
