Food, fun and freebies were on tap as hundreds of area residents got their first glimpse of Johnson Development’s newly opened Woodforest community during recent Discovery Day activities.
Visitors were encouraged to start their expedition at the community’s Welcome Lodge, a 4,300-square-foot custom home overlooking Woodforest Golf Club, where they could pick up a map that would direct them through the community. As they followed the “Discovery Trail,” event-goers enjoyed an array of activities, including face painting, the creative twists of an animal balloonist, snow cones, a petting zoo, free concessions and more.
A highlight of the day was a chance for a $2,500 Home Depot gift card, won by lucky Valerie and David Gilliam. A variety of door prizes added to the fun, including a 46-inch flat screen Samsung LCD television donated by MidSouth Synergy, which was won by Jimmy Eason. Children also collected goodies at each stop along the trail.
Builders have been busy in Woodforest, with Pulte Homes, Plantation Homes and Newmark Homes boasting fully decorated models and available homes. Base pricing ranges from the $210,000s to $420,000s, with homes as large as 5,300 square feet. In addition, custom builders George Weaver, Inc., Jeff Paul Custom Homes, Meadowlark Homes and Wendell Custom Homes have started construction on showcase homes priced from $1.1 to $1.7 million. Home sales have already begun in the community, with two contracts written the week following Discovery Day, and other homes sold prior to the event.
Woodforest surrounds Woodforest Golf Club and is just minutes from the many entertainment and shopping attractions in South Montgomery County, only seven miles from Interstate 45 and just six miles from the outdoor recreation of Lake Conroe.
