SPRING,TEXAS JULY 12, 2012: Many residents at The Village at Gleannloch Farms know the importance of having a companion to assist with transportation, light housekeeping, light meal preparation and medication reminders. Now, the active aging community is reaching out to the surrounding Gleannloch Farms neighborhood to provide the same compassionate, private caregiver services. The program, Care-Connect at The Village, allows residents to continue living independently and reduce their dependence on family members. Active agers who live in the nearby Gleannloch Farms neighborhood can now take advantage of the same services.

"I don't know what I would do without Monica from Care-Connect," said Paul Ferguson, The Village at Gleannloch Farms resident. "She does all of my reading, takes care of my mail, drives me to the doctor and to the store in her car. She is very helpful to me. She is my eyes and ears. I couldn't get along without her."
The program provides 24/7 services, including weekends and overnight care. There is a three hour minimum per visit, and the cost is $22 an hour.
"Our caregivers are compassionate and know how to help senior adults get the most out of their days," said Kathy Johanns, program administrator. "We are very excited about our program expansion and the chance to provide a little extra help so people can continue to live in their homes independently, as long as they choose."
The program is licensed by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services. All of the employees work for Lutheran Social Services of the South, Inc. Employees undergo strict background checks, drug screenings and extensive interviews. All caregivers are recommended to the program.
If you would like to set up interviews for a story about the program or if you have any questions, call Amy Jones at (214) 890-7912 ext. 30 or email at ajones@fortepr.com
