The Westchase District has installed six new monument signs as part of an ongoing branding and boundary demarcation project. The distinctive white obelisks, 14-1/2 feet in height and featuring the District’s blue and green logo, are placed at entry points in Westchase District to notify residents, employees, shoppers, hotels guests, and investors that they’ve arrived at a destination of quality, according to Westchase District General Manager Jim Murphy.
“We began the monument sign installation program in the early days of the District,” said Murphy, “because we wanted to really distinguish the District’s boundaries and help spread our then-new brand throughout the area. The sign program has exceeded our expectations. As the District’s boundaries have grown, so have our signage needs.” The new signs have been installed at the following locations:
- LaQuinta Inn & Suites Westchase, 6440 W. Sam Houston Parkway (at Harwin)
- Halliburton, 10200 Bellaire (at Rodgerdale)
- Park at Woodlake Apartments, 9545 Ella Lee (at Tanglewilde)
- Kaleidoscope Shopping Center, 10614 Westheimer (at Blue Willow)
- Briar Forest Crossing, 1300 W. Sam Houston Parkway (at Briar Forest)
- 3500 S. Gessner office building (at Pagewood)
All 31 existing and 6 new monument signs are lit from the interior and exterior, making a bold statement during the nighttime hours. All the new signs will be landscaped with Society Garlic and bicolor Iris. “They are like small buildings,” commented Westchase District Projects Vice President Irma Sanchez. “Designs have to be approved, construction is supervised and inspected. They have water and power, they’re landscaped and maintained. It’s a big job, but the results are worth it.”
The signs were manufactured and installed by N&P Signs. Irrigation and landscaping was installed by Westco Grounds Maintenance, Inc. Both companies were hired under contracts authorized by the Westchase District Board of Directors.
“We’re grateful for the cooperation of each of these Westchase District landowners who make the monument sign program possible,” said Murphy.
