| Census: Houston Third for Population Growth |

Houston added 33,184 people to its population between July 1, 2007 and July 1, 2008, the third-highest numerical increase among the top 25 U.S. cities, according to U.S. Census estimates released Wednesday.
The increase represents a growth rate of 1.5 percent.
The new estimate ranks Houston as the fourth-largest city in the United States, with a population of 2.2 million people as of July 1, 2008.
