100 Years of Patient-Centered Care and Innovation
Celebrating our centennial in 2007, Memorial Hermann’s mission is to improve the health of the people in the communities we serve. Memorial Hermann serves the greater Houston community through 14 hospitals and many specialty programs and services, including three premiere Heart & Vascular Institutes, Memorial Hermann|TIRR and Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, the Roger Clemens Institute for Sports Medicine & Human Performance, the Mischer Neuroscience Institute, seven comprehensive Cancer Centers, 27 sports medicine and rehabilitation centers, a substance abuse treatment center and dozens of other specialty and outpatient centers. Memorial Hermann operates one of two level 1 trauma centers in Houston and provides the Life Flight air ambulance program as well as the city’s only burn treatment center.
During the past year, our hospitals logged 131,752 inpatient admissions, 515,075 outpatient visits, 339,948 emergency visits, 2,960 Life Flight missions and 24,167 newborn deliveries -- all made possible by the commitment of the system’s 19,000 dedicated employees. Memorial Hermann makes a real difference in the health of the community, annually contributing in excess of $300 million in the form of uncompensated care and community benefit programs, including an award-winning network of public school-based health centers.
Working with our 4,000 medical staff physicians, Memorial Hermann in 2007 achieved numerous awards for clinical excellence. Employees have voted Memorial Hermann a Best Place to Work for the past 3 years, noting our generous tuition reimbursement program and employee assistance fund, which has given more than one million dollars to employees in crisis.
