A Quaker heritage that focused on church, family and schools still remains as a way of life for the community of Friendswood and it still continues to shape the character of the area.

Leading by example, FISD continues to be recognized for its test scores and accountability ratings. FISD's Academic Decathlon Team is known nationally and has more than a decade of consecutive State championships. FISD also has award winning robotics programs in elementary and secondary areas.

FISD is in the Top 5% of the State with TAKS scores and in the Bottom 10% of the State in PerPupil Expenditures. FISD's curriculum emphasizes academic skills, higher academic thinking skills and cooperative learning strategies. Friendswood High School was named 1 of 13

The Friendswood Independent School District covers 15 square miles and borders the Alvin, Pearland and Clear Creek School Districts. The district was recently named the most efficient district in Texas by the Texas Public PolicyFoundation.

Part of the District is under construction from a bond that was approved for a new middle School to replace Friendswood Junior High, a new sixth grade campus, renovations and additions to the high school, its first natatorium, and the remodeling of the former junior high to be a pre-school and kindergarten campus. Friendswood Junior High's new campus opened in the Fall 2010.

FISD developed and put into place a pre-engineering program that is now part of boththe junior high school and high school. Partnerships with NASA-based businesses and corporate programs continue to enrich the innovative, rigorous academic programs. Friendswood ISD Education Foundation is in its 10th year and works closely with FISD providing more than $600,000 in innovative teaching grants and campus programs.

Leading to Achieve Excellence is not only a theme for the district but a reality for its students. For information visit
