Uptown Houston, a non-profit organization, is committed to serving the interests of the area which stretches from Woodway Drive, the West Loop, U.S. 59 and Chimney Rock. The goal of Uptown Houston is to maintain and further this exceptional urban center of sophistication and style. The organization represents business and residential interests that are promoted through the advancement of economic growth and redevelopment.

Uptown Houston is actually made up of the Uptown Houston Association, the Uptown Houston District, the Uptown Houston Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) and the Uptown Development Authority. The Uptown Houston Association is a private non-profit corporation of leading business interests which address the challenges of growth in the area, and strives to coordinate planning and implement improvements for the area’s business interests. The Uptown Houston District (Harris County Improvement District #1) is to continue the public sector’s responsibilities through the utilization of public funds in conjunction with private resources to improve facilities and expedite services. The Uptown Houston District focuses its efforts on improving mobility, public maintenance and beautification, economic development, and marketing the district. The Uptown Houston Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone #16 (TIRZ) and the Uptown Development Authority work together to encourage new development for Uptown Houston's tax base.

Over 30,000 people live in Uptown Houston, and no other neighborhood has 120-plus restaurants, more than 1,000 premier shops, 28 hotels and a thriving business center all within an easy walk.
