           Cypress-Fairbanks ISD is located approximately 20 miles northwest of downtown Houston and encompasses 186 square miles.  As one of the fastest-growing school districts in the nation, CFISD's student enrollment at the beginning of the 2007-08 school year exceeded 97,000, making it the second-largest school district in the Houston area and the third-largest in Texas.

            Cy-Fair ISD opened two new elementary schools and one middle school in August 2007, giving the district a total of 74 schools. The district began the 2007-2008 school year with 47 elementary schools, 15 middle schools, eight high schools and four special program facilities. The 2007 National Merit honorees featured 43 National Merit Semifinalists, 111 Commended students, 17 National Achievement Scholars and 36 National Hispanic Scholars.

            The Cy-Fair ISD district mission statement is to provide the environment and learning opportunities for all students so that, as graduates, they will possess the qualities which will enable them to live meaningfully in society and in the workplace.  The graduate will be an effective communicator,  a competent problem solver,  a self-directed learner, a responsible citizen, and a quality producer.
