Alief ISD is an outstanding district with exciting new projects and programs in more than forty campuses. Several construction programs began and one concluded. A district-wide program encouraged acceptance and understanding of others, and new procedures were put into place to continue ensuring students and staff members are safe. Also the district was recognized through a number of outstanding accomplishments by our students, teachers and other district representatives. The district continued to see rising student test scores showing the willingness and dedication to meeting the needs of every child in Alief ISD.

Some of the Alief ISD accomplishments and notable achievements for the last school year included:

• Alief ISD designated a “No Place for Hate” district for its work to promote kindness, cultural awareness and acceptance of all people.

• Alief ISD implemented district-wide use of the Raptor System to run background checks on every visitor on any campus.

• Alief ISD’s  Dr. Sergio Reyna won the top prize, $25,000.00 for himself and $25,000.00 for his school, Horn Elementary, in the 2006-2007 H-E-B Excellence in Education contest.

• Alief ISD continued to have all “Recognized” or “Academically Acceptable” campuses, according to the Texas Education Agency.
