WELCOME

Saint Cecilia Catholic School continues over 50 years of educational ministry in the Roman Catholic tradition. We believe in ongoing Christian formation of the whole child by developing the greatest potential of each individual spiritually, morally, intellectually, socially, culturally, and physically. The program is founded in both the Gospel of Jesus Christ and authentic teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, preparing students for an adult life of commitment and service.

HISTORY

In 1958, St. Cecilia Catholic School opened under the direction of Pastor, Fr. William J. Kennelly, and Principal, Sr. George Anne Matranga. The original school building housed classrooms for grades one through eight, the school offices, a cafeteria and a gymnasium, which was set up for use as a temporary church. To accommodate the expanding student population, in mid-1962, nine classrooms, a new cafeteria, library, and storage facilities were added to the school. Again in 1995, a substantial addition and remodeling project included the removal of seven temporary metal classroom buildings and the construction of the west wing, housing a science lab, a computer lab, an expanded library, and five additional classrooms. Also added was a new gymnasium, locker rooms, a snack bar and a youth room. Today our students enjoy the new two-story wing located on the north side of campus with 14 new classrooms, 2 new science labs, a music room as well as existing classrooms which are completely renovated, remodeled, and equipped with the latest in classroom technology.

From our first classes in the fall of 1958, St. Cecilia Catholic School has grown in size and improved in all aspects of education. In the past 50 years we have established ourselves as providing the premier Catholic parochial educational experience in West Houston. We invite you to come and be part of our next 50 years!

I am excited and eager to welcome you to Saint Cecilia Catholic School. Through our curriculum, programs, and faith formation, the teachers at SCCS have been providing an excellent Catholic education for over 50 years. I can confidently assure you that the education here is intellectually stimulating, spiritually inspiring, and life enriching.

There is never a dull moment at Saint Cecilia Catholic School. In addition to recent completion of a state of the art two story academic wing and auditorium, we have recently upgraded all the classrooms in the school with state of the art technology and the best in school architectural design to create an ideal learning environment. The St. Cecilia Parish also offers diverse programs for our families.

Saint Cecilia Catholic School is the fulfillment of the educational ministry of the Roman Catholic Church in a parochial environment. It has as its mission the ongoing Christian formation of the whole child by developing the greatest potential of each individual spiritually, morally, intellectually, socially, culturally, and physically.

The program is founded in both the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the authentic teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, which will prepare students for an adult life of commitment and service.
