John Paul II Catholic School is an independent, Catholic school, located in west Houston, with an enrollment of over 700 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.  Our school’s mission is to prepare all students spiritually, academically, and personally to succeed in their future life endeavors. With Catholic faith and Christian values as the cornerstone, John Paul II provides a learning environment that builds self-directed learners, collaborative workers, and community contributors.

John Paul II is unique in that, unlike traditional parochial schools, a parish does not subsidize the school. In fact, John Paul II is a non-profit corporation managed through the cooperation of its Board of Directors, faculty and staff, and parents. John Paul II is accredited by the Texas Conference of Catholic Education Division of the Texas Education Agency and is affiliated with the Archdiocese of Galveston/Houston.

During the 1996/1997 school year and again in 2008, John Paul II was named a National Blue Ribbon Exemplary School by the U.S. Department of Education, one of only fifty private schools to be so honored nationally. Less than 1% of all Blue Ribbon schools, both public and private, have received this award a second time. Poised for future growth, John Paul II moves forward as a unique Catholic school. Its graduates are currently enrolled in many of the private high schools in the area including Duchesne Academy, Pope John XXIII, St. Agnes Academy, St. Thomas High School, Strake Jesuit, St Pius X, and Incarnate Word Academy.
