The Brazosport Independent School District provides educational resources for the communities of Clute, Freeport, Jones Creek, Lake Jackson, Oyster Creek, Quintana, Richwood, and Surfside Beach serving 13,000 students. The District includes 19 campuses, encompassing 11 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, 3 intermediate schools, 2 high schools, and an Alternative Placement Center in a 312 square mile area.

Brazosport ISD has completed the upgrading of school facilities through a $128 million bond. New schools built through this funding include Velasco Elementary, Lanier Middle School, Lake Jackson Intermediate, Clute Intermediate/Middle and Brazosport High School. All other schools in the district received renovations or additions. District athletic facilities were also improved through this funding.

Through a community partnership with Brazosport College, BISD students in their junior year may participate in a dual credit program, giving them the opportunity to earn both college and high school credit. The Brazosport Independent School District identifies and serves gifted students in grades K-12 under a program called SEARCH. This program provides services and support for gifted students Seeking Excellence through Ability, Responsibility, Creativity, and Honor.

The CATE Program (Career and Technology Education) helps students gain entry-level employment in a high-skill, high-wage job, or continuing the student’s education at the postsecondary level. Other programs are offered to counsel students in their academic and personal goals.
