Conroe ISD is a 348-square mile school district with approximately 46,500 students, 5,500 full-time employees, 50 schools, and an annual budget of $293 million. It is the largest school district in Montgomery County.  The geographic areas of the district include The Woodlands, Oak Ridge North, Conroe, and Caney Creek, as well as several other smaller towns and unincorporated areas.  The student population consists of 69 percent white, 22.5 percent Hispanic, 5.6 percent African American, 3 percent other, and 30.2 percent economically disadvantaged.

            Over the past several years, achievement scores have increased in all areas, and in every grade level, scores are well above the state and national averages.  The Scholastic Aptitude Test or SAT scores for 2007 are the highest among other districts in the Houston metropolitan area.  The dropout rate is .1% and the completion rate is 96%.  Conroe ISD has 16 campuses rated “Exemplary” and 16 rated “Recognized” according to the 2007 Academic Excellence Indicator System (AEIS).

            The mission of the District is to educate students to reach their fullest intellectual and academic potential.  Through a multifaceted curriculum with a wide variety of programs and opportunities, CISD meets the challenge of providing the very best education for students through some of the most progressive instructional technology administered by an excellent faculty, and a strong infrastructure that is equipped to handle the growing and ever-changing educational needs of the students.
