The quiet bedroom community of Huffman is on farm roads 2100 and 1960, thirty miles northeast of Houston in the piney woods of eastern Harris County.  Established in 1839, Huffman is a non-incorporated area covering 54-square miles and housing approximately over 14,000 citizens.  A large part of Huffman is located on the shores of beautiful Lake Houston.

Huffman is a unique community comprised largely of residential subdivisions, scattered farms, apartments, and small businesses.  The area is prospering rapidly with the recent additions of five new subdivisions; The Commons of Lake Houston, Fairway Crossing, Lakewood Village Estates, Walraven, and Saddle Creek Farms.

The greater percentage of the population travels to Houston, Humble, Baytown, and surrounding communities for employment.  The socio-economic status of the community falls within a broad spectrum ranging from upper-middle to low income.

The Huffman Independent School District is a Class AAAA school district with an enrollment of over 3,000 students.  We will start the 2007-2008 school year with five campuses; Ben Bowen Early Childhood Center – Pre-K-1st grade, Copeland Elementary School – grades 2-3, Huffman Intermediate School – grades 4-5, Huffman Middle School – grades 6-8, and Hargrave High School – grades 9-12.
