The New Caney Independent School District is located approximately 30 miles
northeast of Downtown Houston in East Montgomery County. Over 8,600 students
from Porter, Kingwood, and New Caney attend the eight elementary schools, one sixth grade campus, two middle schools, one ninth grade campus, and one high school. An
alternative education center for students in grades first through twelfth is also part of New Caney ISD. The Spring 2007 TAKS identified six elementary schools and two middle schools are "Recognized" by the Texas Education Agency.
New Caney ISD focuses on the success of all students and stresses the importance of maintaining the highest quality of educational excellence. Additionally, the district competes in Class 4-A Interscholastic League competition. Academic competition in journalism, speech and debate, theater and the sciences is encouraged for all grade levels.
New Caney's mission statement is "....to produce prepared, self-sufficient, accountable and productive citizens."
